So this post is a requested and promised post. I said I was going to do a post on my hair, products and regimen. I did a post on some of my favorite products here. Well since June I have been trying to change my hair regimen because I noticed slow growth and breakage. So last week I had my hair out, after some dangerous braids and I got some really lovely comments about the growth. So I simply want to share with you a few tips I learnt and applied to my hair. Let’s go

  • Wash hair in sections: yeah so my wash routine is something I had to change. After hours of washing the hair, some parts weren’t well conditioned, some weren’t well washed and some parts felt like water didn’t even touch it at all. So the result of my wash days were just sad. Thanks to youtubers and bloggers, I started washing my hair in sections and the results have been amazing. So I divide my hair into 4 and I use cloth pegs (yes the pegs you use for your cloths) to hold them. I wash, rinse and condition in sections and I have wonderful hair after washing.

  • Detangling: now this detangling issue is something so common but it plays a major role in the length of our hair. Yes your hair will break a little after you take out a protective style but if you detangle well your hair loss won’t be so much. So I decided to do three things in order to detangle well:
    • Apply oil (olive oil or coconut), cream (sheabutter) and spritz (mixture of water, conditioner oils and detangler)
    • Finger comb, simply run your fingers through your hair and try to loosen knots
    • Comb from tip to root, by this I mean detangle your tips properly before combing from the roots.

  • Don’t sleep on your hair: I know I know… you might be so tired and you just want to sleep but try to twist or weave your hair and put it in a satin bonnet or tie a satin scarf. This way your hair is easier to comb the following morning and it still feels moisturized.

  • Oils: now oils play a very very important role in the hair growth. A successful hair journey requires oilssss. My major oils are olive oil, coconut oil and castor oil, sometimes I use almond oil. I really want to get more like jojoba and lavender (see my dropping hint for birthday gift😂😂😂).

  • Trim regularly: so after I did all my big chops I didn’t cut my hair till this summer and that was very bad. I had very terrible ends and my hair was literally just falling off every time I tried to comb it. So pls try to trim your hair more often, I can’t say how often you should trim your hair but just trim when you feel you should.

So basically that’s all I have to share. If you have a few tips to share that have helped your hair journey kindly comment below. I hope to hear testimonies and see more natural Rapunzels. Have a lovely week guys. Till next post…

  1. I sleep on my hair a lot. Lol. Im getting around to covering it more often (God help me) so doesn’t feel so dry. Im 5 -6 months natural post big chop. Im getting around the whole journey thing i guess.
How long have you been natural?

    1. I do that too… last night I slept on my hair 😂😂😂 sometimes that scarf is too far away and Mr. sleep can’t wait mehn. I’ve been natural for about 2yrs now. Don’t worry you’ll get the whole natural hair stuff soon

  2. Hey! So I basically went to your very first post and read it all up to this – the last at the moment.
